World history and culture: Unique collection of Sarmatian gold presented in Orenburg

In the Orenburg governor historical museum was opened the exhibition "The archaeological treasures of Orenburg". The exposition covers a huge historical period of ancient history from the Stone Age to the late Middle Ages. The visitors are more than 2,000 artifacts resulting from the excavation of numerous archaeological sites of scientific expeditions of the Institute of Archaeology Academy of Sciences (formerly Institute of Archaeology of the USSR), the Orenburg State Pedagogical University, the Orenburg Regional Museum.

A separate section of the archaeological exhibition is "Gold Room" where are exhibited gold and silver V-IV century BC, found in the excavations of Filippovka mounds.

The excavations of Filippovka mounds are recognized as one of the most significant discoveries of Russian archeology. The rich archaeological heritage of the Orenburg region allows resurrecting life, art and religious beliefs of ancient peoples.
