World culture: Masterpieces of the world graphics from the collection of the Moscow Museum-Estate “Ostankino” are presented in Astrakhan

April 17, 2015 in the Office of Engravings of the Astrakhan Art Gallery is presented an exhibition "Giambattista, Francesco and Laura Piranesi. Masterpieces of world drawings from the collection of the "Moscow Museum-Estate Ostankino". The exhibition is organized within the framework of the creative cooperation of the Astrakhan picture gallery of P. M. Dogadin with leading museums of Moscow and the Moscow region.

For the first time in the Astrakhan gallery is held such a large-scale exhibition of works of European art of the dynasty, which devoted its art to Eternal City - Rome. The exposition of the engraving study room is 40 works of authorship outstanding Italian artist, architect, archaeologist, a passionate collector - Giovanni Battista Piranesi (1720-1778), the work of his son - Francesco (1758-1810), and his daughter Laura (1758-?). Recent work of the authors is extremely rare in art collections in Russia. Visitors of the exhibition will learn the same with rare books from the collections of the N. K. Krupskaya Regional Scientific Library - partner of the Art Gallery for research and exhibition work. Rare editions of the XVIII-XIX centuries, decorated with engravings, are devoted to the creative heritage of J.-B. Piranesi and Roman antiquities. 

Giambattista Piranesi had no disciples, engraved under his leadership, but the son of Francesco and his daughter Laura, performs drawings and copies of engravings of his father. The exhibition features the famous sheets of the series "Types of Rome", "Roman antiquity", "Types of temples of Paestum" and other masterpieces of Italian engravings of the XVIII century, performance artist Piranesi dynasty.
