Society and book culture: International Scientific Conference “Rumyantsev Readings – 2015. Book and Historical Memory” in Moscow

The Russian State Library (Moscow) on April 14-15, 2015 hosts the International Scientific Library “Rumyantsev Readings – 2015. Book and Historical Memory (to the 70^th anniversary of the Great Victory).

The purpose of the “Rumyantsev Readings – 2015”, held in the year of the 70^th anniversary of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War, - is to attract attention to the problems of historical and social memory, to consider possibilities of literature to influence on the formation of worldview contemporaries.

Issues to be discussed:

- Book and war. Problems of the formation of the civil position.

- The year of Literature as the stimulus to attract attention to the spiritual heritage of Russia.

- Information and communication technology – a mechanism of knowledge in modern socio-cultural institutions.

- Historical and social memory as the basis of preservation of the national unity.

- The national pride and the national identity in the “mirror” of the Russian literature.

In addition, at the conference will be considered issues of the role and place of libraries and library science in modern information and communication environment.

The conference is held in the form of plenary session, sections and round tables.

Experts from libraries, museums, universities, research institutes, publishers, writers, representatives of government agencies and public organizations are invited.
