To the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory: The exhibition “Berlin. May” in Saint-Petersburg

The State Museum and Exhibition Centre ROSPHOTO (St. Petersburg) with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation presents the exhibition "Berlin. May" from April 10 to May 31, 2015.

To the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War the State Museum and Exhibition Centre ROSPHOTO together with the Military Medical Museum has prepared an exhibition project, which features unique photos, graphics and paintings belonging to the last period of the war, the capture of Berlin and the first days of peace in the defeated capital of the Third Reich.

A special value to works of military photographers is the fact that they were not intended for the publication, and therefore were not censored.

The exhibition "Berlin. May" will help to see liberated Berlin in the way it was seen and captured by members of the front-line teams of the Army Medical Museum. The photographs depict the city, almost completely destroyed during the assault and during the bombing of the Allied forces, the city that bears traces of fierce resistance from the Nazi troops.
