Society and culture: The project on the organization of the traveling exhibitions “Let’s go around the world with books of the Russian Geographical Society” in the Saratov region

The A. S. Pushkin Saratov Regional Library for Children and Youth is implementing a project on the organization of traveling exhibitions "Let’s go around the world with the books of the Russian Geographical Society". As part of the project in the Research Library of the N. G. Chernyshevsky Saratov State University is running the exhibition of books, which is a series of "Great Russian travelers" dedicated to the history of geographical discoveries.

2015 marks 170 years of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS), built to the highest order of Emperor Nicholas I in 1845. This is one of the oldest geographical societies of the world. It brings together experts in the field of geography and related sciences as well as enthusiastic travelers, environmentalists, social activists, and anyone who wants to learn new things about Russia, who are ready to help preserve its natural resources. Regional offices of the Company operate in each of the 85 regions of the Russian Federation. In Saratov branch RGO acts since 1938, when the Saratov State University was organized the fourth in a row in the Russian Faculty of Geography.

Book series "The Great Russian travelers" - one of the educational projects of RGO. For three years, starting in 2013, in the children's library in the country, the cadet corps, Nakhimov and Suvorov schools will be allocated 90 thousand books. This project is dedicated to the memory feats of researchers and explorers.

Now the exhibition of books series "The Great Russian travelers" is open to students of the Chernyshevsky Saratov State University. The book is written, in the first place, for students of the Faculty of Geography, as well as anyone interested in geography.
