Exhibitions: The exposition “Heavenly host” from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Museum in Tobolsk
From April 5 to May 20, 2015 in the Tobolsk Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve is held the exhibition "Heavenly host" from the collection of the Andrei Rublev Central Museum of Ancient Culture and Art.
The Andrei Rublev Central Museum of Ancient Culture and Art is located within the walls of the ancient Saviour-which is the oldest in Moscow white stone Cathedral of Our Saviour, painted by Andrei Rublev. Icons of the museum’s collection are internationally renowned and include many unique pieces. Here are the masterpieces of artists circle Andrei Rublev and Dionysius, workshop by Metropolitan Macarius and Ivan the Terrible.
In the history of Christian art the veneration of holy warriors occupies a significant place. Names of George, Demetrius, Nikita, Art, Theodore the - revered throughout the Orthodox world. Especially for the exhibition was selected and renovated a number of works that were not previously available to a wide audience before been exhibited. About 100 unique works of art are of the XIII - early XX centuries, including icons of the saints of the Russian princes, images of saints and martyrs of warriors of the Byzantine period. A large section is devoted to the miraculous icons, to which people prayed during severe disasters and conquests. Their images were placed on military banners and extension icons accompanying Russian troops in campaigns and battles in front wearable.
