
World history: The exhibition “Peace to Europe. To the 200th anniversary of the Congress of Vienna” in Irkutsk
March 31, 2015 in the Irkutsk Decembrists Museum is opened the exhibition “Peace to Europe. To the 200th anniversary of the Congress of Vienna” from the collection of the State Borodino Military-Historical Museum-Reserve.
With this exhibition the museum completes a four-year integrated project "Russia's military glory". Over the past period Irkutsk people met with the exhibition "The Cossacks in Paris" (the State Historical Museum), "The Russian Army in the Napoleonic Wars" (the Borodino Museum-Reserve), "Russia's military glory" (the Irkutsk Decembrists Museum), dedicated to Russian troops in the fight against Napoleon. The current exhibition tells the story of the last battles of the Allied forces with a brutal dictator and post-war Europe. Napoleon's new order in Europe was overthrown by force of arms of the allied armies, and their victories were legitimized the Congress of Vienna, held from September 1814 to June 1815. It was attended by 216 representatives of European states. The tone of Congress asked Russia, Britain, Prussia and Austria. Here was decorated Union of emperors of Russia, Prussia and Austria - "Holy Alliance", the Duchy of Warsaw returned to Russia, not forgetting about the increment of its possessions and other victorious countries. The Congress of Vienna decided to confront the revolution to restore the principles of government that existed before the Napoleonic wars.
The exhibition presents a genuine Russian military uniform of hussars, the Austrian military engineer, the French fire, the Horse and the sapper, and Hamburg Ulan Scottish infantryman. Historical prints, commemorative medals, documents, postcards and books narrate the events of the Congress of Vienna. The exhibition presents 138 museum objects from the collection of Borodino Military History Museum.
The exhibition will run in the Irkutsk Decembrists Museum until June 15, 2015.
