The monument to the Great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin is opened in Chinese city of Heihe. It is located on the border with Russia, near Blagoveshchensk.

The monument is located on the central pedestrian street of the city, next to the bookstore, which also bears name of Pushkin. The poet’s figure was cast from bronze in full growth. There is an inscription on the granite pedestal in Russian and Chinese: “Pushkin – father of Russian literature”.

This is not the first monument to Pushkin in China. In Shanghai to the centenary of the poet’s death was installed his bust of the high pedestal.

Heihe and Blagoveshchensk are actively developing cooperation in various fields: tourism, cultural, economic. In particular, the Heilongjiang and the Far Eastern Federal University are planning to create a joint research center. Border regions of Russia and China plan to jointly celebrate the anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
