Archives of Russia: "The State Archives of the Novgorod Region in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" historical and documentary exhibition

"The State Archives of the Novgorod Region in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" historical and documentary exhibition has opened on May 25, 2015, in the reading room of the administrative building of the State Archives of the Novgorod Region.

The tragedy of the ancient Russian city during the war and the Nazi occupation is fully reflected in the history and destiny of its priceless historical and cultural heritage and in the history of the State Archives of the Novgorod Region 1941-1945.

The purpose of the exhibition, prepared by employees of the State Archives of the Novgorod Region, is to show a pursuit of the Novgorod archivists in the tragic period of the Great Patriotic War, its most important contribution to the preservation of the historical and cultural heritage - the documentary heritage of Novgorod and Novgorod land, to show a laborious and an extensive process to overcome the devastating effects of war the largest state archival institutions of the region.

The original documents and photographs are exhibited in 3 sections: "The activities of the State Archives of the Novgorod Region in the pre-war period", "The State Archives of the Novgorod region in 1941-1945", "The organization of activity of the State Archives of the Novgorod region in 1946-1960."

The exhibition will run until 31 July 2015.
