Celebrating the All-Russian Day of Libraries: Large events in the Novosibirsk region

Every year on May 27 our country celebrates the All-Russian Day of Libraries. This day symbolizes the recognition by the society and the state of a high role of libraries as centers for preservation, enhancement of invaluable cultural and scientific heritage. It is also a tribute to the work of the people who work there and to the readers of all generations who like books and reading.

Novosibirsk region is the center of rich and diverse cultural life. Libraries represent there a leading element of the regional culture. Professional network is represented by the libraries of the Academy of Sciences, Ministries of Health, Social Development, Defense, and others. The largest number of libraries of departmental subordination is part of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Culture. The network of state and municipal libraries of Novosibirsk region annually serves more than 1 million readers. Libraries are especially significant to the inhabitants of rural areas, where they are a platform for communication and recreation of people.

Library services are carried out by public state and municipal libraries united into a single information and library space of the Novosibirsk region through the joint electronic catalog of public libraries of the Novosibirsk region, of 6 zone laboratories digitizing library resources, a network of Public legal information centers, open educational platforms of the "Open University of Siberia" and a network of virtual reading rooms.

May 27, the libraries of the Novosibirsk region and of the city of Novosibirsk will hold an Open Day as well as a variety of activities: exhibitions, events, book presentations, literary promotion.
