Society and Culture: Exhibition to the 75th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Brodsky opens in St. Petersburg

25 May 2015

On May 25, 2015, in the Department of Manuscripts of the Russian National Library (St. Petersburg) as part of citywide events, dedicated to the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the birth of Joseph Brodsky, opens the exhibition "Will I see two lives there..."

At the heart of the exhibition are materials of the "Leningrad’s" part of the poet's archive - manuscripts and drawings of Brodsky, stored in the Manuscript Department of the NLR. The exhibition also presents the copies of drawings and photographs of the "American" part of the poet's archive, provided by the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library of Yale University (USA).

The exhibited manuscripts reflect mainly the early works of the poet; drawings allow viewers to see another facet of Josef Brodsky’s talent, being an important source for the study of his biography and creativity.

The exposition will run until the 1st of July 2015.
