Memory of Russia: Monument to Patriarch Alexei II set up on the site of the Prokhorovsky Tank Battle

Monument to Patriarch Alexei II was consecrated at the Museum-Reserve "Prokhorovka field" in the Belgorod region.

The author of the monument is People's Artist of Russia, Friedrich Soghoyan. Bronze sculpture height of 2.6 meters was cast in Smolensk.

According to Metropolitan of Belgorod and Stary Oskol Joann, at one time Alexey II blessed the construction of "Prokhorovka field", and there were thousands of people, "which from all over Russia were drawn to Prokhorivka as a third field selfless Russian".

The Museum-Reserve "Prokhorovka field" is created in memory of one of the largest battles of the Great Patriotic War - Prokhorovka tank battle during the Battle of Kursk in 1943.

May 3, 1995 Alexey II consecrated the church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul in Prokhorovka field. Also the opening the main monument reserve museum - the memorial "Belfry", Victory Monument and libraries, initiated by the former Prime Minister of the USSR Nikolai Ryzhkov (the basis of the book fund was his personal library) took place.
