The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: Forum of Literatures of countries and territories of the Caspian region “Caspian – Sea of Friendship” opens in Astrakhan

May 19-20, 2015 in Astrakhan are held Forum of Literature of countries and territories of the Caspian region "Caspian - Sea of ​​Friendship". Writers Congress will be the central event of the Year of literature for Astrakhan, as well as Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Dagestan, Kalmykia, Chechnya.

Forum of Literatures is an initiative of the Astrakhan regional branch of the Writers' Union of Russia, with the full support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Astrakhan region.

Recent and significant issues will be discussed during the conference "Literary translation as a means of strengthening and development of international relations, mutual enrichment of cultures of the peoples of Russia, the Caspian countries and territories, the different aspects of cultural cooperation and interaction between the public and territories of the Caspian region".

Another item on the program of activities of the Forum - a literary and musical evening "Friendship of literatures - the friendship of peoples" with the participation of Astrakhan writers, poets, guests of the Forum and representatives of numerous national and cultural societies of the Astrakhan region.

The final chord will be the grand summing up of the first regional competition of literary translations from the languages ​​of the peoples of the Caspian region.

May 20, the Forum of Literatures of countries and territories of the Caspian will hold meetings with the residents of the Volodarsky district and visited a memorial complex of the Kazakh educator Kurmangazy Sagyrbaev.

It is expected that the outcome of the Forum "Caspian - Sea of ​​Friendship" will be the creation of the Astrakhan Center for Literary Translation for coordinating the work of translating the works of writers and poets into Russian and from Russian into the languages ​​of other peoples. This event will certainly contribute to the growth of the creative writers of the Caspian, enhancing their social, socially useful activities, revival of inter-regional publishing activities and, ultimately, will be an important step in strengthening the friendship between the peoples living in neighboring regions.
