Society and Book Culture: IX Chekhov Book Festival in Taganrog

IX Chekhov Book Festival is taking place on May 13-16, 2015, in Taganrog, within a framework of the announced Year of Literature in Russia.

IX Chekhov Book Festival is a large-scale cultural and educational event that is important for the city of Taganrog and Rostov region as well as for the entire Russia. The Festival program is designed for adults and children, people of all ages, professions and interests. More than 50 events will be held at 40 venues in Taganrog.

As in previous years, an exhibition of new books from Russian publishing houses, including a special book exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War is deployed at the Central City Public Library named after Anton Chekhov.

In the Festival’s agenda are the get-togethers with the writers, educational lectures, discussions, seminars, workshops, and flash mobs, all aimed at promoting books and reading. A significant component of the Festival is children's program.
