Memory of Russia: Monuments to Marshal Rokossovsky are installed in Moscow and Volgograd

Just two of the monuments to Marshal Konstantin Rokossovsky - in Moscow and Volgograd - are installed to the 70th anniversary of the Victory at the initiative of the Russian Military-Historical Society (RVIO).

The monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union, twice Hero of the Soviet Union K. K. Rokossovsky in Volgograd is installed at the intersection of 7th Guards and the Marshal Vasily Chuikov. Place of the monument was chosen due to the fact that during the Battle of Stalingrad it was here Konstantin Rokossovsky crossed the Volga several times on the ice, visiting the cutting edge defense and command post of the commander of the 13th Guards Division Alexander Rodimtsev.

Sculptor Vladimir and Danila Surovtsevs created the monument back in 2011. Given the high artistic quality of the sculpture, the relevance of subjects and a huge part of Marshal Rokossovsky in victory, the Russian Military-Historical Society, it was decided to assist in the erection of a monument in Volgograd.

Monument to Marshal of the Soviet Union K. K. Rokossovsky in Moscow is installed on the boulevard in his name, between houses 11 and 12. The author of the monument was made by the creative team of Alexander Rukavishnikov.

The opening ceremony of the monument in Volgograd was attended by members of his family, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Culture of Russia, member of the Presidium of the Central Council RVIO Gregory Ivliev, director of the Museum "Battle of Stalingrad", the head of the Volgograd branch of RVIO Alexei Vasin, representatives regional and city authorities and the public.
