Exhibitions: Rare books and documents from the N. Ostrovsky Literary-Memorial Museum are presented in Sochi
The N. Ostrovsky Literary-Memorial Museum in Sochi presents an exhibition of its own funds "When the guns thundered, muses were not silent…Ostrovsky is fighting" dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory. The exhibition features rare exhibits from the museum collection and books of N. Ostrovsky published during the Great Patriotic War. The novel "How the Steel Was Tempered" was a favorite book of soldiers of the Soviet Army.
Among the exhibits there are books, documents, personal items belonging to participants of the Great Patriotic War and the children of besieged Leningrad, Heroes of the Soviet Union. The exhibition introduces the military history of the Black Sea Fleet. Here are documents of the legendary mine layer "Nikolai Ostrovsky"; gunboat SK065, made famous by the heroism of Hero of the Soviet Union G. Kuropyatnikov; M. Pedenko frontline diary - in 1942 the girl was directed at Novorossiysk, to the 225 brigade of marines.
Of particular interest is the press of the war years. The exhibition features a unique collection of front-line newspapers, "Bolshevik", "Red Flag", "Forward for the Motherland!" (the publication of the North-Caucasian Front), "Red Chernomorets" (Black Sea Fleet). The press was released daily, promptly transmitting reports from the front, sketches of life in the rear by publishing materials about the heroes of the war.
A special expressiveness of the exposition is copyrights posters of the family V. Bedrak and I. Berdak dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. These works continue the tradition of "Window TASS" and a poster art of artists Kukryniksy.
The exhibition runs until May 10.
