Internet and history: The Ministry of Culture of Russia launches an information system “Place of Memory”

In honor of the 70th anniversary of the Victory and the Day of Memory and Grief the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation launches a Military History Internet resource "Place of memory", which shows the burial place of the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War. The system provides information about each soldier, as well as a virtual tour of places of burial.

The project, initiated by the Ministry of Culture, continues to develop the united data bank of "Memorial". The new database includes information gathered by the search expedition, and the information from the archives and memorial museums of the regional and federal levels. Data on finding memorials presented on an interactive map will allow users visiting them during the actual trip.

For the development of this resource is planned to involve socially oriented non-profit organizations that will contribute information content of the «Местопамяти.рф».
