World culture: The exhibition “Mystery. Sculpture of Baikal Asia” presented in Irkutsk

From June 15 to 26 July 2015 in the Siberian department of art of the V. P. Sukachev Irkutsk Regional Art Museum is presented an exhibition "Mystery. Sculpture of Baikal Asia" from the museum collection. The exhibition aims to show the development of the sculptural and monumental and decorative art forms in the Baikal region in a variety of materials, techniques, subjects in the period from antiquity to the present day - from the Paleolithic era to the beginning of the XXI century.

The exhibition brings together the works of authors of different nationalities, different cultural traditions of the media, showing a picture of a kind of regional art, characterized by the interpenetration and enrichment of styles that, in general, and forms the phenomenon of modern plastic and spatial arts of Baikal Asia.

The exhibition presents the unique monuments of ancient culture by the inhabitants of the Paleolithic Buret more than 25 thousand years ago; works of the masters - bearers of ethnic traditions of Yakutia and Buryatia; cult carvings, inspired by folk art, as well as works by professional sculptors Irkutsk and Buryatia. All of them show the historical stages of the formation of sculptural art of the vast region of Asia.

The exhibition is complemented with sketches of projects of monumental and decorative art, the composition of the grog and glazes graduates and students of universities and professional schools of Irkutsk.
