History and culture: “Manuscript Treasures of the East on the Banks of the Neva” Exhibition will present on the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum

“Manuscript Treasures of the East on the Banks of the Neva” Exhibition to open in the Novo-Mikhailovsky Palace (Dvortsovaya nab., St. Petersburg) in the framework of St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which takes place from 18 to 20 June 2015.

The Russian Academy of Sciences Institute of Oriental Manuscripts holds Russia’s biggest collection of oriental manuscripts, which is also one of the most valuable in Europe. The exhibition will feature unequalled historical manuscripts in Arabic, Japanese, Chinese and Indian languages, ancient examples of Arabic script, Persian, and Mongolian miniatures, and manuscripts in Sanskrit from various periods.

St. Petersburg International Economic Forum gathers the leading decision-makers of the emerging economic powers to identify and deliberate the key challenges facing Russia, emerging markets, and the world at large, while engaging communities to find common purpose and establish frameworks to forge solutions which will drive the growth and stability agenda.

The St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) was founded in 1997 and since 2006, it has been held under the auspices of the President of the Russian Federation.
