On the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory: The exhibition from the collection of the State Museum of Oriental Art in Astrakhan
The Astrakhan Art Gallery named after P. Dogadin held an opening of the exhibition dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Victory entitled the "Rahmat, Tashkent!" (painting, drawing of the Central Asia in War Years) from the collection of the State Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow).
The title of the exhibition is a line from a poem by Anna Akhmatova, who lived during the war years in evacuation in Tashkent — thanks to generous Central Asian land and to its local residents, who gave shelter to many people in sacrifices necessitated by war, "Rahmat" in Uzbek means "thank you."
Numerous art institutions, film studios, theaters, creative unions were evacuated to Central Asia with the outbreak of war. A unique world of ancient monuments, tart southern nature, friendly locals, upholding the traditional way of life met the evacuees.
The main idea of the exhibition is the grandeur of the art world in constant opposition to the destructive power of war. The exhibition features over 50 drawings and paintings by famous artists who lived during the war years in evacuation in Central Asia.
Artists, creating in theirs works the images of peace, the beautiful eternal nature, helped people to dream of victory, to approach it and to survive. The presence of strong and reliable home front and a true unity of its people in many ways contributed to Victory.
