Celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Great Victory: Exhibition “Victory Parade on Red Square June 24, 1945” in Kaliningrad

The Kaliningrad Regional History and Art Museum, under the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the Kaliningrad region opened an exhibition "Victory Parade on Red Square June 24, 1945" (from the collection of the State Historical Museum, Moscow). This exhibition project is timed to the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

Victory Day parade on Red Square on June 24, 1945 was a visible and most spectacular incarnation of the triumph of the winners. It marked the end of the largest and bloodiest war in human history. The heroes of the exhibition dedicated to this legendary event, are people - from corporal to the marshal, - who took part directly in the Victory Parade, those who marched at the head and as part of the consolidated regiment, who stood on the podium of the Mausoleum and was a guest of the parade.

On display are documents, photos, weapons and personal belongings of famous generals and members of the Victory Parade on Red Square. Thus, visitors will  see a Stalin's coat, a cloak of Zhukov, Rokossovsky’s soldier’s blouse, tunic of Konev and other rarities. In addition, it will show the standards of the Great Patriotic War, which were carried at the head of combined regiments. Totally, more than 150 unique items from the collection of the State Historical Museum were brought to Kaliningrad. The exhibition will be accompanied by the newsreel footage of the Victory Parade.

One of the most interesting documents, shown at the exhibition is the text of the parade speech of Georgy Zhukov with the marks of an announcer, who remain anonymous, on how some of its fragments should be read.

The exhibition runs until August 24, 2015.
