International events: Dedicated to the art of Russian avant-garde exhibition in Germany
"Images of the Words. Text and Font in the Russian Avant-garde Art" exhibition, prepared by the ROSIZO State Museum and Exhibition Center, opens on June 4, 2015, at the German Museum of Books and Printing at the German National Library in Leipzig (Deutsche Nationalbibliothek), within the Cross-year of Russian Language and Literature of Russia — Germany — 2014/15.
The exhibition presents posters, ads, sketches of scenery and costumes for the theater, book illustrations and magazine covers. The objective of the exhibition is to show the experiments with language and visual communication, so typical for the Russian avant-garde of the XX century. The visual inventions of those years were based on a new relation to the meanings and literary forms. The objective of many of these became a synthesis of literary and illustrative material. Among the authors represented in the exhibition are Velimir Khlebnikov, Natalia Goncharova, Alexander Rodchenko, Alexander Vesnin, El Lissitzky.
Exhibits for the exposition are courtesy offered by the State Museum of Vladimir Mayakovsky, the State Central Theater Museum A. A. Bakhrushin, the Russian National Library and the three private Moscow collections.
