Memory of Russia: The exhibition “Grand Duke Vladimir in the book memory of Omsk” opened

July 27, 2015, on the eve of the Day of Christianization of Rus’ in the A. S. Pushkin Omsk State Regional Scientific Library was opened the exhibition "The Great Prince Vladimir in the memory book of Omsk (1767-2015)".

In 2015, we commemorate the millennium anniversary of the repose of St. Grand Equal to the Apostles Prince Vladimir, who brought the light of faith in Christ our ancestors. The center of book monuments of the library keeps many rarities that reveal the history of the establishment of Christianity in Rus’.

The exhibition includes rare editions of Catherine's era, the era of the book of Paul I, the first edition of N. M. Karamzin "History of the Russian State" (St. Petersburg, 1816) and others.

In Omsk are preserved rare editions of "History of the Russian Church" by Metropolitan Macarius (St. P., 1857) and Archbishop Filaret (M., 1857), where Prince Vladimir’s acts are defined as events that fateful for Russia. 

The exposition also features books, which were published in 1988, when Russia officially celebrated the millennium anniversary of Christianization of Rus’.

Here are presented luxurious tomes of the XXI century - "Russian Chronicle" (St. P., 2004) and "History of the Russian State" by N. M. Karamzin (Moscow, 2010). They give the exposition a solemnity and grandeur. Published in the best traditions of the temple of books for their aesthetic decoration of the altar, they resemble the Gospel faithfully preserved for us a thousand-year history of our Fatherland, where are specially prescribed acts of the Holy Great Prince Vladimir - Baptist of Rus. Each visitor has a unique opportunity not only to see all these books, but also to work with a few instances.
