Exhibitions: The exhibition of the best works by Valentin Serov to the 150th anniversary of the artist to be held in the State Tretyakov Gallery

In September the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) will host an exhibition of paintings by Valentin Serov, devoted to the 150th anniversary of the famous Russian painter and portraitist.

Retrospective of graphic and pictorial works of masters - portraits and travel sketches, copies of works of art and historical themes, fantasy theme of Greek myths, sketches of theatrical scenery and paintings of aristocratic dining room - located on three floors of the museum. Visitors will be able to see the first theatrical works of the artist associated with the production of the opera "Judith" and the curtain created by the artist for the ballet "Scheherazade" within the framework of the Russian Seasons Sergei Diaghilev.

The large-scale exhibition will be collected from the works granted to 18 Russian and 5 foreign museums and private collectors.

Valentin Serov (1865-1911) - Russian painter and graphic artist, a renowned portrait painter and one of the greatest masters of European painting of the XIX century. He lived only 46 years, but, despite such a short period of life, he created many genuine masterpieces. Valentin Serov was closely associated with the State Tretyakov Gallery: more than 10 years he was a member of the board, he cared of the replenishment of the famous art collection.
