Exhibitions: Works by Boris Kustodiev are presented at the exposition “Caucasus in front of me…” in Astrakhan
The house-museum of B. M. Kustodiev (Astrakhan) within the project "Travelling with Kustodiev" hosts the exhibition "Caucasus in front of me…". For the first time publicly are presented graphic and pictorial works by the artist, united by the Caucasian theme of travel in 1894, 1897, 1899 and 1900.
Russian masters created many works in praise of the beauty of this region. A special role in the life and work of B. M. Kustodiev played several trips to the Caucasus. A comprehensive exhibition is composed of works stored in the P. M. Dogadin Astrakhan Art Gallery, the National Library of Russia (St. Petersburg), and the private collection of Gennady Arkhipov (St. Petersburg). The exhibition introduces visitors to the collections formerly belonging to actor Vladimir Gardin and the younger brother of the artist - Mikhail Kustodiev.
Admiring the beauty and originality of the seen in travel, Kustodiev captured in his works great views of Mount Kazbek and the Terek, the Daryal Gorge, Lermontov places, old houses and castles. Visitors of the exhibition will see drawings made in pencil and watercolors depicting scenes on the boat, people in national costumes, everyday objects of the Caucasian peoples.
