Memory of Russia: The opening of the monument to a Soviet soldier in the Pskov region
July 23, 2015 in the Day of Liberation of Pskov from the Nazi invaders in the village of Karamyshevo (the Pskov region) was opened the monument to a Soviet soldier.
The memorial is located on the place of the fraternal war graves, where is lied more than 300 warriors died during the Great Patriotic War. Here is also buried the Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Grigorievich Grigoriev – commissar of the 3rd partisan regiment of the 3rd Leningrad partisan brigade died under the enemy fire at undermining the railway Pskov-Staraya Russa. Besides natives of the Pskov region here was found the last refuge of the Red Army soldiers from Moscow, the Altai Krai, several regions of Ukraine and Belorussia.
A total the Karamyshevskaya military grave included 27 warriors. Fierce fighting took place in the Pskov region from January to July 1944.
Author of the sculpture is Vitali Shanov. Monument to Soviet soldiers is set by the Russian military-historical society as part of the recovery and the creation of uniform monuments to the fallen on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War. Monument to Soviet soldiers is set earlier in the Ryazan, the Penza, the Tver, the Kaluga and the Sverdlovsk regions.
