Peoples of Russia: The festival “ETHNO podium. Commonwealth” in Baikal

21-27 July, 2015 on the shore of the unique lake Baikal, on the island Olkhon is held the VI International festival of ethnic costume “ETHNO costume. Commonwealth” - Forum of Masters and Creators, who make unique costumes and decorations, reflecting culture, history and the way of life of its peoples.

“Podium ETNO. Commonwealth” - a creative vacation on Lake Baikal, aimed at the development of international cooperation, education of the youth respect for the roots of their culture and the cultures of other peoples. This is the exchange of experiences, learning and familiarity with national traditions of dress and way of life, the history of the people through the suit.

During the festival are included activities at public and private venues: conference qualifiers, creative workshops, exhibitions, gala show of the best collections of clothes finalists contest Eko Fashion show (the collection of environmentally friendly natural materials), creation of the image (based on the Baikal myths and legends), competition for the best evening dress from the material at hand, sightseeing of the sacred places of the Baikal region.

The geography of the festival is increasing every year. The project will be attended by representatives of numerous nationalities of our vast country, from the CIS countries and abroad.

In 2010 the project “ETHNOI Podium. Commonwealth” was named the best ethno-cultural project of the year and entered in the Guinness Book of Records of the Irkutsk region. In 2011 it was presented at the VII Baikal Economic Forum in Irkutsk as the best ethno-cultural project.

September 26-28, 2014 the project won the National award «RUSSIAN EVENT AWARDS» in event tourism in the regional stage of the Siberian and Far Eastern Federal Districts in the category “Best project to promote folk traditions and crafts”, and in December 2014 was the final Forum and Exhibition “Multinational Russia” (Moscow).
