July 10 at the Regional Museum of the city of Velikiye Luki was opened a photo exhibition "Holy Pushkin Mountains" from the Pushkin Reserve collections.

The Pushkin Mountains are located in the heart of the Pskov region, on the spurs of the Valdai Hills. Here a ridge of hills reaches the highest mark in the surrounding areas - up to 160 meters above sea level. The history of the village is closely connected with the life and work of Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin, history of the Svyatogorsk monastery, in the territory of which the poet on February 6, 1837 was buried.

The old name of the village Tobolenets comes from the Lithuanian tabaluoti - swing wobbles, hang out, which corresponds to a complex configuration of the shoreline of the lake. However, there are archaeological finds discovered during excavation works near the lake Tobolenets and giving reason to believe that the earliest settlements existed on the territory of the village in the XII - XIV centuries. In addition, in the Pskov III chronicle in 1566 Shinichi mountains on which soon arose Svyatogorsk monastery, are called "mound" - a place where once a fortified settlement existed.

May 25, 1925 was adopted a special resolution of the Central Executive Committee, which stated: "To rename Tobolenets village, parish center of Pushkin Pskov province, in the village of Pushkin Mountains". Pushkin district was formed in 1927. Until 1935 it was a member of the Leningrad region, after - the Kalinin. In 1944 Pushkinogorsky District was included in the Pskov region.

February 29, 1960 the Pushkin Mountains have received the status of the camp. October 11, 2009 after the referendum, which was supported by the union of the urban settlement with Pushkin Mountains from Zaretsky and Pushkinogorskoy parish, was established an urban settlement "Pushkinogorye".

According to the regional law on June 3, 2010 the urban settlement Pushkin Mountains and 2 parishes were merged into the newly established urban settlement "Pushkinogorye" with the center in the village Pushkin Mountains.
