History and culture: The exhibition, dedicated to the culture of Altai, in Saint-Petersburg

July 2, 2015 at the St. Petersburg State Museum-Institute of the Roerich family is opened the exhibition "G. I. Choros-Gurkin and culture of Altai", dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the first professional artist Altai, a public figure, who contributed to the art of Siberia.

The exhibition presents works of art, objects of ethnography and rare photographs from the collections of the State Art Museum of Altai Territory (Barnaul), the A. V. Anokhin National Museum (Gorno-Altaisk), the State Museum of the History of Religion, the Russian Museum of Ethnography, the Siberian Roerich Society, the Museum-Institute of the Roerich family and private collections.

The exhibition also includes photographs from the collection of the expedition of the Nicholas Roerich Museum in New York: Roerich visited this region in the summer of 1926, making the Central Asian expedition.

The exhibition will run until October 25, 2015.
