
History and culture: The monument to living legend Paul Sudoplatov installed near Smolensk
Monument to General Paul Sudoplatov (1907-1996) - a living legend, the organizer of many brilliant Soviet secret police operations and the guerrilla movement in the rear of the fascist installed at the entrance to Smolensk. The monument was opened on the eve of the partisans and underground fighters, which was celebrated on 29 June.
The creation of the monument to the residents of the Smolensk region, and veterans of the security services have decided to pay tribute to the legendary scout merit. The place where the monument to Sudoplatov will be installed is located next to the street that bears his name in a suburb of Smolensk.
A memorial sign is a large granite boulder with a sign attached to it. In the future, this place will have the memorial: on both sides of the monument will be steles with stories about the guerrilla groups operating in the Smolensk region during the war.
