Territory of Russia: Photo exhibition “Russian North” is on display in Moscow in the open air

August 20, 2015, a photo exhibition "Russian North” opens on Nikolskaya Str., Moscow, in the open-air.  

The pedestrian zone of one of the oldest streets of the capital will feature landscapes of Yakutia, Franz Josef Land, the New Siberian Islands, Wrangel Island. 64 works are brought together in several blocks, so that visitors can not only admire the fantastic nature of the north, but also get acquainted with the history of the study of the Arctic.

Owing to the photographs from the archives of the Russian Geographical Society, visitors will see the work of Lena polar station (1882-1884), learn about the journey of Eduard von Toll (1900-1903), imagine the hard way through the icy wilderness of the icebreakers "Taimyr" and "Vaigach" (1910- 1915), as well as get a glimpse of the famous expedition of Georgy Sedov (1912-1914).

The photo exhibition is organized by the «National Geographic Russia" journal jointly with the Russian Geographical Society under the support of the Ministry of Enterprise and Tourism Development of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The exhibition runs until September 16, 2015.
