
Information technology and culture: Account books are digitized at the State Museum-Monument St. Isaac’s Cathedral
“Electronic Archive” Corporation has completed a project to scan books and inventory books of receipts of St. Isaac's Cathedral (Saint-Petersburg).
Digitizing documents will help to optimize the museum records and storage of exhibits, better control of safety of collections. In addition, the accountant books of the Museum-Monument "St. Isaac's Cathedral" is a historical value and scan solve the task of ensuring their safety.
The Museum Monument "St. Isaac's Cathedral" - one of the most important art museums in Russia. Its design includes the largest collection of Russian monumental and easel painting of the middle of the XIX century, more than 300 statues and sculptural groups, mosaic works by Russian masters. The museum has a workshop drawings and sketches of O. Montferrand, collection of icons of the first half of the XVIII century, objects of decorative art.
As part of the project it is scanned 13 books, some of them - in a dilapidated condition. Therefore, to digitize them into electronic form of the museum it was used a planetary scanner of the brand ELAR PlanScan "C" series. This equipment is specially designed for safe and high-quality scanning of books, including thick, crumbling spine.
