
Russian culture abroad: The exhibition of works by Pavel Filonov is opened in the branch of the State Russian Museum in Spain
August 13, 2015 the first European foreign branch of the State Russian Museum in the Spanish Malaga opens an exhibition of works by Pavel Filonov. It presents 66 works of painting and graphic artists of national avant-garde from the State Russian Museum.
According to the agreement signed by the State Russian Museum with the City of Malaga, in the branch will be annually held three exhibitions: one "constant" (up to 9 months) and two time (up to 6 months). The first permanent exhibition entitled "Russian Art of the XV - XX centuries" opened in March of this year, includes about 100 masterpieces of Russian art from all eras, which give an idea of the long history of Russian art.
The first temporary exhibition entitled «Russian art of the Diaghilev’s» presented 69 works - outstanding works of the artistic environment in which developed and which largely enriched Sergei Diaghilev.
The second temporary exhibition is devoted to Pavel Filonov. This is the first exhibition in Spain of one of the most original and enigmatic artists of the twentieth century. Viewers will be able to get acquainted with works reflecting all stages of the creative evolution of Filonov: earliest work in the exhibition is dated 1911, and the latest - 1940.
The exhibition runs until January 10, 2016.
