International events: Rossotrudnichestvo expands network of representatives offices abroad

In the town of Beit Mery (Lebanon) was opened the branch of the Russian Center of Science and Culture (RCSC).

The opening of a new branch is the long-awaited event in the cultural life of the region. Lebanon for decades of sectarian disunity and political grounds, a country that despite its small size, is divided into enclaves of compact residence of representatives of different faiths. In this connection special importance is the opening of a Russian cultural center as a regional office, based on which will be taught Russian, organizing and carrying out activities cultural orientation.

Lebanon and Russia has long been associated with strong relationship. Soviet cultural center in Beirut was opened back in 1950. It did not stop their work, all 16 years of civil war in Lebanon (1975-1990).

Currently, the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Beirut has more than twenty different schools, studios, courses and groups - children Russian school for children of compatriots, Russian language courses for Lebanese compatriots Studio Theatre, music and dance schools, computer courses, foreign languages, etc. 

In addition, the RCSC in Lebanon is actively cooperating with partner organizations that are interested in development of relations between the two countries - the municipalities, educational institutions, charitable foundations, thereby creating joint Lebanese-Russian cultural centers.

Thus, in connection with the opening of a new branch in Lebanon Rossotrudnichestvo has 91 foreign service missions in 78 countries, including 61 of the RCSC, 8 branches of the RCSC, 22 representatives in the diplomatic missions.
