11 August 2015

The Nabokov family in the Leningrad region, which now houses a museum of the writer, after restoration will become a regional cultural center.

The house, which belonged to the mother of Vladimir Nabokov, is located in the village of Christmas. The famous writer, poet and literary critic, as a child, spent summers here. Later, in the autumn of 1916, the estate passed to his property. However, the revolution forced the family to leave Russia.

The two-storey wooden building of the XVIII century after the October Revolution was used as a hostel. Later, the school was located there. Ten years ago there was a fire that heavily damaged the building. The exposition about the history of the area and the estate was opened in 2002.

It is planned that the reconstruction work in the estate will begin next year. As part of the restoration it will be put in order, not only the building itself but also the adjacent park.
