Society and culture: The exhibition “Valentin Alexandrovich Serov in the collection of I. I. Brodsky” in Saint-Petersburg

The I. I. Brodsky Museum-Apartment (Saint-Petersburg) hosts the exhibition “Valentin Alexandrovich Serov in the collection of I. I. Brodsky”.

The exhibition, timed to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Valentin Serov, features paintings, watercolor and pictures of the artist. The works by Serov from the collection of I. I. Brodsky are constantly involved in many major exhibition urban projects, but first the exhibition features all the 24 exhibits from the collection of Brodsky.

Brodsky thought Serov to be the great national artist. Ilya Repin, recalling his brilliant pupil, said: “Art of Serov like rare gem, the more you peer into it, the more is tightens the depths of its charm”. The exhibition features: wonderful scenery of Serov; one of his variants of the composition “Abduction of Europe”, preformed in a variety of drawing and painting and even in sculpture; paintings of Serov. 

Valetin Serov – is embracing. He is not only a brilliant portraitist, but a landscape painter, graphic artist, creator of historical compositions. Brodsky brilliantly conforms that by gathering in his collection unique works of Valentin Serov.

The exhibition will run until August 9.
