World culture: The exhibition “Caravaggio and his followers” in the Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow

The exhibition "Caravaggio and his followers", which will show works from the collections of the XX century's biggest critic Roberto Longhi, will be open at the Pusshkin State Museum of Fine Arts in Moscow on September 15, 2015.

The exhibition at the Pushkin Museum features around 50 works of art. Among them are the famous painting by Caravaggio's "Boy bitten by a lizard" and paintings, to a large extent been influenced by his reformist manner. Among them - "The Taking of Christ" by Dirk van Babyuren, "Renunciation of St. Peter" by Valentin de Boulogne, and two works by Matthias Stommer - "Archangel Raphael in the house of Tobias" and "The Healing of Tobit". Paintings from the collection founded in 1970 by Roberto Longhi Foundation will complement the paintings from the collection of the Pushkin Museum. In particular, at an exhibition in Moscow will be reunited works from the series "The Apostles" by Spaniard Husepe Ribera.
