History and culture: The exhibition “Igor and Yaroslavna. Wisdom, loyalty and love” in Yaroslavl

The Yaroslavl Museum-Reserve invites you to get acquainted with the new exhibition "Igor and Yaroslavna. Wisdom, loyalty and love". The exhibition is deployed in the exhibition hall of the exposition "Lay…"

This year, the work of "Lay" celebrates 830 years. And all this time, more than eight centuries, the story of the poem, and its heroes not only continue to be the center of attention of connoisseurs, scholars and connoisseurs of authentic literature, but also inspired by the work of many generations of artists.

The focus of the new museum exhibition - made in a variety of artistic styles and images of Prince Igor Yaroslavna in book graphic works, sculptures and paintings from the collection of the Yaroslavl Museum.

The exposition of a new exhibition also presents a rare edition of the poem "Lay…" with the author's illustrations of Yuri Lukshina. In 2012, the publishing house "Rare Book from St. Petersburg" has published only 30 numbered copies of "Lay…" in translation N. A. Zabolotsky. This publication has become a unique phenomenon, not only for Russia but also for the world of literary culture. One of these instances there is in the collection of the Yaroslavl Museum. Illustrations in the technique of etching with aquatint are made by the artist Lukshin by hand on hand-made paper.

No less attention belongs to the great works of the various editions and translations of it. The exhibition features over seventy exhibits, some of which are presented the audience for the first time.
