History of Russia: The traveling exhibition “Live Monument of Victory” presented in Staraya Russa

The Cultural Center "Rusich" the city of Staraya Russa of the Novgorod region has started working the traveling exhibition "Live Monument of Victory", organized by the State Museum of Art of Novgorod land under the program "Living Tradition". The exhibition is held in celebration of the millenium anniversary of the history of Staraya Russa.

The exhibition is dedicated to the Life-Guards of the Dragoon Regiment, quartered at the Novgorod land in 1814-1902.

Life Guards of the Dragoon Regiment was formed in 1814 in Versailles, near Paris, like the Life Guards Horse-Chasseur and on a plan of its founder Alexander I it should have become a "living monument" of the Patriotic War of 1812 and foreign campaigns of the Russian Army 1813-1814. In 1833, the regiment was renamed the Life Guards Dragoon.

The exposition presents materials on the history of the regiment, regimental various aspects of life, the portraits of emperors, generals, heroes of the Patriotic War of 1812 and foreign campaigns of the Russian Army in 1813-1814. These are photocopies of documents, paintings, old photographs from archives, museums and private collections of Russia.

The exhibition will run until November 1, 2015.
