
Society and culture: The exhibition “Yakub Kolas and Russian writers” in Kaliningrad
September 9, 2015 in the Kaliningrad Regional History and Art Museum with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Culture of the Kaliningrad region was opened an exhibition "Yakub Kolas and Russian writers" from the collection of literary-memorial museum of Yakub Kolas (Minsk, Belarus).
The work of the national poet of Belarus Yakub Kolas is an entire epoch in the history of Belarusian literature. He is considered the founder of national prose. Yakub Kolas owned masterpieces of poetry - the poem "The New Land" and "Symon the Musician".
It has long been observed that writing skills cannot be fully developed in a cultural vacuum. The formation of a writer is accompanied with depth study and thoughtful attitude to the cultural heritage of his people, works of classics. Yakub Kolas was not an exception in this sense. From early childhood he was interested in the works of Russian writers. The first place of honor in this series took Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin. Warm friendly relations were maintained by Belarusian poet with many Russian writers.
Thus, today we have the opportunity not only to look through the eyes of Belarusian Pesnyar to the greatness of literary talent Alexander Pushkin, Mikhail Lermontov, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, but also to look through the prism of Russian classical literature on the work of the national poet of Belarus. This exhibition is one more step for rapprochement and strengthening of Belarusian-Russian literary and cultural relations. It will help to get acquainted with the life and work of the Belarusian national poet, it tells about his creative and friendly relations with the Russian writers.
Books with inscriptions to Yakub Kolas, his extensive correspondence with friends and colleagues will plunge visitors into the 50s of the XX century, will open the theme of the Soviet Belarusian-Russian literary relations, demonstrate evidence of really strong and mutually respectful friendship between the Slavic peoples, the clearest example and zealot of which is Yakub Kolas.
The exhibition will run until October 9, 2015.
