The history of domestic aviation and space exploration is inseparably linked with the history of the Crimean land. The unique geographical location of the peninsula (Crimea is equidistant from the Equator and the North Pole), features of the landscape and climate of the area contributed to the creation of favorable conditions for the development of the sky and space. In Crimea their way started future aerospace engineers, those who went on to become a living legend, and the glory of the national aeronautics and aircraft design, future space explorers. In 1950-1960 at the dawn of the space age, the Crimea became one of the leading centers for research and study of near and far space. In the vicinity of Yalta it was built Deep Space Communication Center. Ground complex provides reliable communication with all automatic interplanetary stations and manned spacecraft. Over the years, at Cape Chauda Feodosiya Bay rehearsed one of the most important stages - soft landers landing spacecraft and interplanetary probes. In Feodosia bay were tested samples of space and rescue equipment, life-support systems of astronauts. It was provided a training space crews on ditching and water survival. Crimea for designers, scientists, specialists of space engineering and cosmonauts for a long time has become not only a place of hard and responsible work, but also a favorite holiday destination.
