Society and science: II Festival of the Russia Geographical Society in Moscow

From October 30 to November 8, 2015 the Central House of Artists in Moscow hosts the II Festival of the Russian Geographical Society. Its exhibitions will be structured on the principle of natural areas: the Arctic and tundra, steppes and subtropics, mountains, forests, oceans, seas and rivers. Thus, every visitor will have an opportunity to find himself in the part of Russia, where he has not yet been.

Each day of the festival will highlight a specific topic: ethnography, tourism, expedition, history, cartoon movies, animal defense and so on. All the week, visitors will be offered the screenings of the best documentaries of the Russian Geographical Society, master classes, lectures, competitions and games.

The Festival of the Russian Geographical Society will include a geography dictation (November 1). A large-scale educational action, which is first carried out by the Russian Geographical Society, will be available to anyone, regardless of age, education and social status.

The House of Artists will also hold an award ceremony for the winners of the I All-Russian photo contest organized by the Russian Geographical Society, which has brought together more than 25, 000 professional and amateur photographers from around the world.
