Exhibitions: Masterpieces of engraving techniques in the Tretyakov Gallery

“Materials and techniques of engraving and woodcutting” Exhibition opens October 30, 2015 in the Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow) in the frame of the programme “The Tretyakov Gallery opens up its store rooms”.

The exhibition is devoted to the particularities of engraving techniques – printing on wood and woodcuts – from antiquity to the present day.

The Tretyakov Gallery’s collection identifies and showcases the main historical milestones of this art technique both in Russia and abroad.

The exhibition will feature the earliest examples of engravings and woodcuttings in the Gallery – from medieval Japanese prints, early European woodcuttings, Russian gospels, popular prints and famous examples of woodcuts by masters of the art of engraving in the 20th century.
