Society and culture: Valdai Discussion Club participants in Sochi discussed Russian literature

One of the topics of the traditional meeting of the Valdai Discussion Club held yesterday in the Olympic capital of Russia, was the Russian literature. The meeting was attended by famous prose writers, such as Igor Volgin and Viktor Yerofeyev, a literary critic Lyudmila Saraskina and adviser to the head of state for Culture, Vladimir Tolstoy.

The main topic of the session was the question of war and peace. More than one hundred experts from thirty countries discussed different aspects of this problem. According to the organizers, the main points in the discussion were "a man, the state and the possibility of a major conflict in the twenty-first century."
