Information technology and libraries: The catalogue of printed music of the Russian State Children’s Library is digitized

The “Electronic Archive” Corporation has completed works on scanning and retro conversing cards of the catalogue of printed music of the Russian State Children’s Library. 

More than 43 thousand library cards for filling electronic catalog RSCL are converted into electronic form. The project creates an array of graphic images and computer-readable bibliographic records in the format RUSMARC, ready to be loaded into an automated library and information system. Bibliographic data in digital form will allow library users to find a particular issue in a few seconds.

“Electronic Catalogue is a convenient search tool: our goal - to organize remote access to information resources of the library and easier to work with them”, - said the deputy director of RSCL Marina Burykina.
