Museums of Russia: The Numismatic Museum opened in Moscow

The Numismatic Museum was opened in Moscow in a historic chamber building of the Zinovievs-Yusupovs.

Specialized public museum was founded by the president of "LUKOIL" Vagit Alekperov - the owner of one of the largest numismatic collections in Russia.

The museum's collection was collected during 14 years and currently there are more than three thousand coins of Russia and foreign countries. The current exhibition is a small slice of the collection and includes a coin of tsarist Russia, the Soviet period, as well as coins of ancient Greece, the Roman and Byzantine empires. In the temporary exhibitions of the museum will be featured private collections of items of other numismatists and coins, which are exhibited in public museums.

Numismatic Museum is conceived as a cultural and educational project dedicated to the development and promotion of numismatics and collectibles. At the museum is planned to hold lectures and conferences for those who are interested in collecting coins, there will also run library and numismatist’s club.
