The exhibition “Gold of descendants of Heracles. Peoples of the Kuban district in the VI century BC – III century AD” is opened on October 2015 at the State historical Museum (Moscow).

Kuban and the Black Sea region, populated by man in ancient times – is a real Mecca for archaeologists. Most of the monuments belong to the early Iron Age (VIII century BC – IV century AD), when the territory was settled by Cimmerians, Scythians, Meotians, Greeks and Sarmatians. Their bright and original culture has always attracted the attention of researchers and the general public.

The exhibition at the Historical Museum presents unique monuments made of gold. One of the most interesting exhibits - a fragment of the fresco depicting scenes narrating the exploits of Hercules. Hero in draped over the shoulders of a lion's skin, holding the horns of a cow and a bull. On the walls of the burial tomb in the ancient Gorgippia (Anapa) were shown the twelve labors of Hercules, which clearly emphasizes the relationship with the deceased hero himself. There, in a rocky tomb was found cast a gold ring with the royal family emblem and a funeral wreath of oak 12 gold shamrock, which is shown in the center of the patroness of the Bosporus state - Aphrodite Urania. Undoubted artistic value is a statue of a noble warrior in ornate armor and weapons.

Archaeological excavations of ancient monuments are continued, and thus museum collections are enriched with new interesting exhibits.
