The Year of Literature in Russia-2015: The International forum “Literature of Russian abroad: the past and the present” in Moscow

October 5-6, 2015 as part of the Year of Literature the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russian Abroad (Moscow) hosts the International forum “Literature of the Russian Abroad: the past and the present”. The partner of the forum is the A. M. Gorky Literary Institute.

A comprehensive study of the literary heritage of the Russian emigration is one of the scientific priorities of the House of Russian Abroad. The phenomenon of literature, created in Russian language outside Russia, exists almost a century; the uniqueness of literature is inseparable from the traditions of other languages and cultures. The Year of Literature creates the opportunities for acquaintance with authors, living abroad and writing in Russian, with the latest modern Russian language literature, with translations of literature of Russian Diaspora to the languages of the world, with its literary-critical reception and scientific research.

The translators of the Russian literature, created outside Russia and being the classic of the XX century – works by Bunin, Shmelev, Nabokov, Gadzanov, G. Ivanov, Tsvetaeva, Taffy, and writers from abroad will be able to meet on the common discussion platform, to acquaint the audience with their writings and projects, to discuss the wide range of professional issues. 

Literary forum in the House of Russian broad will be the platform for exhibitions and presentations of new books, literary readings and presentations, discussions and debates.
