History and culture: The exhibition “Silver and Gold of the Queen of Spades” is opened in the Museum of Theatre and Music Art

21 November 2015

November 19, 2015 in the Sheremetev Palace (St. Petersburg) was opened the exhibition "Silver and Gold of the Queen of Spades", dedicated to one of the most brilliant and the most mysterious women of the Pushkin epoch - Countess Natalya Petrovna Golitsyna, who served as the prototype of Countess Anna Fedotovna in the novel of A. S. Pushkin "Queen of Spades".

The extraordinary life of Countess Golitsyna and the life of Queen of Spades on the stage tell us about a hundred works of painting, graphics, applied art and numismatics from the Hermitage and the Museum of Theatre and Music Art – these are formal portraits of family, friends, the court environment, graphic sheets with genre scenes, documents and objects of everyday life. Phantom of The Queen of Spades will also soar in the exhibition: the materials of the early performances of the legendary opera of Tchaikovsky complement the exhibition.
