History and culture: The exhibition “Icon. Tradition. Time” in Moscow

13 November 2015

November 13, 2015 in the Sergei Andriaka Academy of Watercolors and Fine Arts (Moscow) is opened the exhibition of icons of the School of Iconology and Iconography “Prosopon” “Icon. Tradition. Time”.

The project “Icon. Tradition. Time” – is the phenomenon of the mutual interest of two art directions, started in 2010 with the exhibition of icons of the Sergei Andriaka School of Watercolors. The new exposition is stylistically diverse, but united by a common method of performance of the work in recent years.

School “Prosopon” (a term of Greek theology, understood as the “Image of God”, “The Face”) was formed and developed as a community of painters, based on aesthetic criteria of community and religious ideals expressed in the iconographic tradition that formed until the XVI century.

The modern interest to the icon and its origins revealed an important sphere of activity of the school: conducting regular master classes and seminars with practical learning techniques of iconography, the main theme of which - the icon as an image of God in man.

The exhibition will run until January 24, 2016.
